At Il Capolavoro, we foster unity and excellence instead of striving for perfection. This is where the unique genius loci of our places comes from.
Designing a new space can only be compared to the excitement of an explorer who has laid eyes upon unknown land. Creating the new spirit of a place is like crossing the border of a mountain range and discovering that a legendary land really exists.
In our work, we complement each other to create a whole, complete composition. In our design, beautiful architecture is expressed through truth. If we take truth, goodness, and beauty as the determinants of authentic architecture, it essentially serves humanity. It does not pretend. It is natural. We have vast resources of natural, local building materials and traditional craftsmanship that in our opinion ought to be protected and valued.
At Il Capolavoro, we make tradition and modernity coexist. A sustainable, smart approach to design and the art of building is our core strength.
Design takes place on many levels. We do not know of another art so demanding, equally engaging all the human senses. Our passion for creation embraces sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. Design in our life is a total art.
The creation of Il Capolavoro was driven by a few very specific reasons. It serendipitously came to life when several processes in our lives intertwined.
As a married couple we have learned that we can create one soothing space for man by allowing two worlds to permeate.
It would seem that we come from two different worlds. On the one hand – architecture – powerful, monumental, volumetric, associated with Andrea Palladio. On the other – interior design – most often thought of as ethereal, individual, elusive, hidden, intimate.
In our Il Capolavoro world, the whole is more than the sum of volumetric architecture and interior design. It is more than our precisely constructed arrangement. The beauty of design lies in weaving what is “external and what is internal.”
This is how we understand the role of the modern architect. Striving for simplicity and naturalness. Nature is sublime, but not perfect.
The smallest particle is the reflection of the whole—just like the elements of the Tuscan Pine Cone or a hologram, where each part is the whole.
The smallest piece is complete in its essence and substance. At Il Capolavoro, whether we create solely the building project or interior design project, they do not lose their completeness.
In the market, most often the volumetric architect designs the body, and the interior designer supplements or creates a completely new reality. At Il Capolavoro, we have a new approach to create architectural gems, aiming at excellence, not perfection.
She creates spaces that combine modernity with respect for tradition and craftsmanship. In design, she thinks in colour.
In 2025, she was included in the prestigious AD100 – the list of the most influential architects and designers from Poland and around the world. Her projects have been recognized by international interior design magazines such as AD Italia, AD Germany, AD Polska, and Elle UK. Driven by a passion for authentic architecture, she co-founded the IL CAPOLAVORO brand.
An architecture graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology and the HAWK Hildesheim in Germany. Her love for colours was sparked by several factors – her professional experience in spacial design and creating colour palettes for European paint, clothing, and automotive brands.
In her personal brand concept, Karolina Rochman-Drohomirecka combines eclecticism with skilful interpretation. Her style is defined by careful observation, colour, respect for craftsmanship, and authentic architecture. What makes her approach stand out is the juggling of styles, in which the subtle clash of colour and textures gains depth and harmony. In her projects, she strives to preserve the identity of places, taking into account the cultural and regional context.
